Flappy Bird Might Return to iOS and Android But With a Warning
|Flappy Bird was one of those games which had been free, simple to understand, tough to master and very addictive games of the iOS and Android Platforms and the original reason too for its creator Nyugen Ha Dong to create it in the first place but coincidentally the reason too for him to take it off the Play Stores.
In a long and rare interview with the Rolling Stone, the quite 29 year old Dong Nyugen had said that he was terribly disturbed with some of the comments and tweets from a few people which had made him think and act on his decision to take the most popular game off the charts of Google Play Store and Apple App Store, which was possibly making $50k a day. In one of his tweets said “I can call ‘Flappy Bird’ is a success of mine, But it also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it”.
There has been a study though which suggested that there were Flappy Bird clones that were being posted at the stores every 24 minutes. “People can clone the app because of its simplicity,” Dong says, “but they will never make another Flappy Bird”.
An excerpt from the interview said “But the absence has also spawned a reappraisal. Kotaku apologized for its allegations of plagiarism”. John Romero, co-creator of the game Doom, says Flappy Bird is “a reaction against prevailing design the way grunge was a reaction to metal”. The godfather of gaming, Bushnell, compares it to his own hit Pong, “Simple games are more satisfying”.
Dong Nyugen when asked if he was considering the release of his bird again said that he’s been turning down offers from companies to game and cannot compromise on his independence, since the closure he says “feels relieved. I can’t go back to my life before, but I’m good now”, and about the release “I am considering it, but if it’s ever released it will come with a ‘warning’ reminding to ‘Take a break’ ”.
Lets us hope that we would see bug-eyed, big-lipped, bloated bird flap again to the boards for us to enjoy and kill some time and in while doing that remember to “Take a Break”.
